Writing a multi-result quiz – even one with only 3 possible end results – takes quite a bit of thought. It is much easier to plan and write your quizzes in a text file rather than in the quiz marketing app. This 3 result quiz template helps you to plan and write the information you will need so that building your first multi-result quiz in QuizMarketing.com will be a simple matter of cutting and pasting.

Note that this writing contains a template with advice, suggestions and notations AND a bare template for you to copy and paste into the word processor of your choice.

If you have any questions please contact Garrett at GFrench@gmail.com.

STEP 1
>>Name Your Quiz:
(use a keyword, make it a question, keep it under 32 characters)

>>Quiz Address:
(create a final url for your quiz and paste it in here)

STEP 2
RESULTS:
It’s best if you write out your result names, result body text and create your result images ahead of time. Keep the result names to around 30 characters and the result body text to around 25-75 words. These results will become the badges that quiz takers potentially post on their blogs, forums, myspace pages etcetera.

STEP 4
CREATE A QUESTION:
You have to create a minimum of 5 questions. Since this is a template for quizzes with only 3 possible results it’s easiest to make each question have only 3 answers. Each answer corresponds to one of the results. It’s easiest if you create questions that have only 3 answers, especially when you only have 3 possible quiz results. That way each answer gives weight to a single result.

>>Enter Question 1:
>>possible answer 1
>>possible answer 2
>>possible answer 3

Set Each Answer’s Effect on Each of Your 3 Results
(though you will not be typing in these effects it’s still important that you have an idea of the numerical weight that each possible answer has on each of your 3 results.)

possible answer 1
+6 effect on result 1
+0 effect on result 2
-6 effect on result 3

possible answer 2
+0 effect on result 1
+6 effect on result 2
-6 effect on result 3

possible answer 3
-6 effect on result 1
+0 effect on result 2
+6 effect on result 3

Pro Tip: you MUST assign a scaled numerical weight for each result on each answer – it’s not enough to make an answer give +1 on a single result and move on. If you want a given answer to

STEP 6
Intro and Outro text
Keep this short and sweet. The intros will appear above your questions. The outro will appear beneath their results after they have taken the quiz. Keep these to around 10-50 words each.

Public Beta Launch Pending

Posted on November 6th, 2008 by Scott in Development

Quizmarketing.com will be opening up to public beta accounts before Webmaster World  / Pubcon starts on Tuesday.

Wil it be tonight? Will it be this weekend? Will it have to wait until Tuesday?  That’s hard to say, because right now Garrett is putting the finishing touches on a guide to writing your own quiz. Keep checking back!

* note:

If we were really on the ball we would have a pre-subscription list you can add yourself to, or at the very least an RSS subscribe option here, but writing this post was faster ;)

Maybe I’ll come back in  an hour -

Buggy Friday

Posted on October 10th, 2008 by Scott in Bugs, Development

We added a new theme to the blog today, and we discovered monster bugs in the application now that it’s moved to the new domain.

(removed so it didn’t look like a real error ;)

this is in the first page of the QuizMarketing login

Second -
In Step 1 -
No matter how many times I insert the title in step one it does not “stick”. I insert the title and click outside the box, click on next step and the quiz somehow continues to go “unnamed.”

Third - One user claims to have “lost my quizzes in the app. Tried 4x” -
We cannot verify this and besides, he was using Google chrome, so who knows what might be wrong. At this point, we’ll assume it was user error – but there might be something…

So – the programmer is working feverishly trying to get these fixed, at that time, we will replace the login link and try some more…
